WHAT ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent eyelash extensions comprised of individual synthetic eyelashes that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash. They are applied on to individual eyelashes, one extension at a time, for a natural, elegant look to lengthen and add fullness to the existing lashes. Eyelash extensions are for professional application only. Self-application and application by untrained individuals is strongly discouraged.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CLASSIC, HYBRID & VOLUME LASH EXTENSIONS?
Classic lashes are applied using one lash extension on an individual natural lash(1:1). This is great for clients who have a good amount of lashes to create length & thickness along their lash line.
Volume lashes (also referred to as Russian Volume) are when multiple lash extensions are applied to an individual lash. Your lash technician creates handmade “fans” using 2 or more lashes with a thinner diameter so it can be placed on your natural lash without damaging it. Volume lashes are lighter, fluffier and give the client more density along the lash line. Volume lashes are prefect for clients with little to lots of lashes depending on the look you are going for. Volume lashes have a tendency to last longer since the lash extensions cover more surface area because multiple lashes are attached, creating a stronger bond with less adhesive. Mega Volume use more than 8 lashes with a thinner diameter to create a strip lash look!
Hybrid lashes are a mix of classic and volume lashes creating length while adding density in more sparse areas.
WHAT DOES Volume 2D, 3D, ETC.. MEAN?
The number of D refers to the number of lash extensions that are placed on a natural lash. For example 2d=2 lash extensions per natural lash, 3D=3 extensions per natural lash, and so on.
CAN ANYONE GET LASH EXTENSIONS?
Lash Extensions may not be ideal for any clients who are or have:
- Allergic to adhesive (ex:cyanoacrylates)
- Sensitive or easily irritated eyes
- Sensitivities to light
- Excessive Blinking/Eye Twitching
- Undergoing Chemotherapy within the last 6 months (consult your doctor)
- No natural lashes
- Wirey lashes
- Frail lashes
- Damaged lashes
- Very Curly Lashes
- Sick (cold, flu, etc.)
- Unhealthy or unruly lashes will not properly hold the extensions and will cause premature fall out/shedding.
ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS SAFE?
Eyelash extensions are considered safe when applied properly by a trained technician.
We use the highest quality products available, for application procedure, and adhesives that are exclusively developed to the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance by a team of scientists, physicians and expert lash stylists. The adhesives are made using the same properties and ingredients found in medical-grade adhesives. Medical-grade adhesives are used by surgeons to close wounds without stitches, a practice called suture-less wound closure. The adhesives are formaldehyde and latex free.
WILL EYELASH EXTENSIONS DAMAGE MY NATURAL LASHES?
Eyelash extensions will not damage your natural lashes when applied properly by a trained technician. Because a lash extension is an exact replica of an eyelash, it weighs about as much as a natural lash: practically nothing. You will not notice the addition of the extensions to your lashes and they will not cause your natural lashes to fall out ahead of their natural cycle as other enhancement methods can.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF WEARING LASH EXTENSIONS?
Eyelash extensions create the appearance of a brighter, more open and rested eye, thereby creating a more youthful and rejuvenated look.
Above all, the main advantage of eyelash extensions is how much time you can save during your beauty regimen – spend less time with makeup. Mascara and eyeliner is no longer necessary. The added benefit is that they look beautiful morning and night, all day, every day until your next ReLash.
I HAVE LASH EXTENSIONS PUT ON BY ANOTHER LASH ARTIST, CAN I GET A RELASH FROM YOU?
Due to the fact that every lash artist has their own unique application standards we always check the previous work to make sure it meets the quality of ours for the health and safety of your natural lashes. The price for any new client coming in to get a fill from another salon is $150 and this price varies on how much work needs to be done. Please note that we may recommend getting a new full set if the previous set does not meet our standards.
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY APPT?
Do not curl your lashes or wear any mascara. Remove contact lenses and thoroughly clean your lashes with a mild, water based cleanser. Eyelids and lashes must be completely clean and dry. View our pre appt list for more info.
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY LASH EXTENSIONS AFTER APPLICATION?
Please view our After Care Guide for more details about lash care maintenance tips and what should be avoided to increase the longevity of your lash extensions.
CAN I APPLY MASCARA TO LASH EXTENSIONS?
Mascara should be avoided all together. One of the primary advantages of lash extensions is that you won’t need mascara.
CAN I SWIM AND SHOWER NORMALLY?
Absolutely. Lash extensions wear naturally. You can shower, swim, scuba dive, cry, sweat, or enjoy the spa without worry of them coming loose or falling off. Occasional short visits to the sauna or steam room are fine. However, daily or extensive exposure to steam or intense heat may cause the bonding agent to loosen.
HOW LONG DO EYELASH EXTENSIONS LAST?
The look can be maintained indefinitely with refills. When properly applied, an eyelash extension will remain in place until the natural lash on which it rests falls out. Natural eyelashes grow in and fall out in cycles (every 60 to 90 days).
When a natural lash matures and falls out, a new lash has already been growing and quickly replaces it without us noticing the turnover. This process is constant and at any given moment our many natural lashes are at different stages of maturity. Some are just growing in, while others are ready to shed. People typically shed between 1 and 5 natural lashes each day, depending on their individual growth cycles. On shorter natural lashes, this growing and shedding cycle is virtually unnoticeable.
WORD OF CAUTION
We hear countless stories of individuals who go to an untrained lash technician because the cost is low. They receive a substandard set of lashes that is clumpy, painful and often damaging to their natural lashes. A proper application of lashes is not painful during or after the procedure. Eyelash extension application is an exacting process that takes skill and time. If the cost is very cheap, you should certainly question the training of the technician as well as the quality of the product. These same individuals often end up seeking out a properly trained and certified lash artist after they try the cheap alternatives. Ultimately, most have realized from experience that the old adage “you get what you pay for” is often true.
