WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BETWEEN COSMETIC TATTOOING & STANDARD BODY TATTOOING?
The purpose of cosmetic tattooing is to enhance the natural features of an individual. Cosmetic tattooing is softer and more subtle – it is meant to be a natural-looking enhancement. Body tattoos use ink full of metals while cosmetic tattoo procedures involve pigments. The depth of cosmetic tattooing only penetrates the first two layers of your skin(dermal layer) thus making it semi-permanent. These pigments are designed to gently fade over time when your skin naturally exfoliates itself. Body tattoos go much deeper than that making them more permanent.
HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?
This varies from person to person, but can last up to 1-2 years with proper aftercare and required touch up sessions. The following factors can also affect your tattoo on how long it will last:
- Sun exposure: The sun will extremely soften the look of your tattoo, so sunscreen should be used (once healed) to increase the longevity of your enhancement.
- The speed at which the skin absorbs the pigment: The slower the absorption, the longer the pigment will hold.
- Color choice: lighter colors fade faster and dark colors last longer.
- Bleeding during the procedure: Any bleeding during the tattooing procedure will reduce the amount of pigment absorption. Alcohol and certain medications act as blood-thinners and should not be taken prior to and following your appointment.
Please note: RESULTS ARE NOT GUARANTEED. While, we offer the highest degree of detail and dedication to our procedures, we unfortunately have no control over other factors that affect the healing process. For example, the care of your brow and how each unique skin type heals and retains pigment differently will greatly contribute to the final results. Therefore, Alohi Aesthetics offers no guarantee for healed results.
Please be aware, additional touchups may be required to achieve optimal outcomes. For brows, the use of cosmetic products may still be required to achieve your desired look.
WILL I NEED A TOUCH UP?
A second session is required or else the procedure will be considered incomplete. Brow touch ups are done 6-8 weeks apart. Individuals may require additional touch ups to perfect their brows. Everyone heals differently and at different rates, so if your cosmetic tattoo does not heal perfectly the first time, do not worry, cosmetic tattoos are a multiple session process! The required retouch will add to the areas that need more definition and color. Clients with little or no natural brow hairs, or have corrected work may need the extra touchups.
I HAVE AN EXISTING BROW TATTOO, CAN I STILL GET MY BROWS DONE?
If you have had your eyebrows previously tattooed and are interested in a cover up, you MUST email alohilashes@gmail.com a clear photo PRIOR to booking your appointment. We cannot guarantee results for cases such as these and we must approve that your eyebrows are faded enough to work on. In some cases where the previous work is too dark, dense, discolored, or large, tattoo removal will be highly recommended before we can begin on yours. Previously tattooed areas and cover-ups will almost always require additional touch-ups for best results.
IS IT PAINFUL?
Some clients find the procedure a little uncomfortable where as other clients report no discomfort at all. A topical anesthetic is introduced after the procedure has started. This is topped up regularly by request during the treatment to keep you comfortable.
HOW LONG DOES THE APPOINTMENT TAKE?
The duration depends on amount of work that needs to be done but usually it is 2-3 hours.
IS THE PROCEDURE SAFE AND SANITARY?
Alohi Aesthetics takes pride in having a sanitary and sterile work space. We only use single use, sterile, disposable needles and supplies. All supplies are properly disposed of and each client has a new, clean set up. Our tools, equipment, and work area are thoroughly disinfected and sterilized before opening and after each procedure throughout the day.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY BROW TATTOO PROCEDURE?
Please make sure to thoroughly read the pre appointment info page before your cosmetic brow tattoo procedure.
WHAT TOOLS ARE USED FOR THE PROCEDURE?
This depends on the technique of your cosmetic brow tattoo. It can be either machine or manual. We use disposable or machine with single use needle, certified permanent makeup pigments, soothing solution, sterile cotton pads, ruler for measuring, single use pigments ring, special pencil for permanent makeup, and some other single use supplies to make sure the treatment is done hygienically.
HOW WILL IT LOOK LIKE AFTER IT IS HEALED?
Once the brow peels the color may reduce by up to 40-60% or more. The hair-strokes will appear softer and more muted (oily skin hair strokes may heal softer and more blended). The color will continue to soften for up to 6 weeks. However, as skin regenerates itself the pigment will resurface and the true color revealed. PLEASE NOTE: Healed results will vary with each individual client and using a pencil or powder may still be needed. We have no control over what occurs during the healing process. Absolutely NO GUARENTEE will be made and additional sessions (charged accordingly) may be required to obtain optimal results.
