The results and longevity of your new brow tattoo will depend greatly on your lifestyle, sun exposure and how you take care of your skin during the healing process. Each client’s skin responds differently, both in the length of time it takes to heal, and the number of sessions required to achieve your desired results and color retention. This information acts as a guideline only; we cannot guarantee your results.
What to Expect during the Healing Process
- DO NOT expect your brow tattoos to heal perfectly after the first session. Cosmetic tattooing is a multiple session process for best results.
- Immediately following the procedure, you may experience minimal discomfort on the treated area. Expect slight swelling and a little redness in the immediate area. Symptoms will subside within 24 to 48 hours.
- During the first week, the tattooed area will initially appear to be darker and bolder in color and more sharply defined than the final result.
- Minimal scabbing or flaking of the skin is completely normal throughout the first few weeks of the healing period. To avoid loss of pigmentation & scarring, DO NOT itch or remove scabs. They will naturally fall off on their own.
- Adjustments and touch-ups can be made only after the healing period is complete. (6-8 weeks)
What To Avoid During The Healing Process
- Brow makeup, brow tints for 14 days
- Hot, steamy, long showers
- Vaseline, Neosporin and any other anti-bacterial ointments
- Activities that will cause sweating for 10 days. (Sweat contains salt and pushes out pigment color)
- Chlorine pools or salt water for 14 days
- Exposure to the sun and tanning beds can cause premature fading and discoloration of the pigment. Once completely healed, always apply a broad spectrum sunscreen (30 SPF) on the treated area
- Laser light therapy, as it can turn pigment black
- No chemical peels, mesotherapy, dermabrasion, botox and any other strong treatments for first 4 weeks
- Exfoliation products, retinol acids, glycolic acids, aloe, vitamin e or AHA’s on the area for 4 weeks after the appointment to avoid premature fading
New Brow Tattoo After Care Instructions
Ombre Powder Brows:
Keep the treated area very clean & dry for the first 24 hours. After this time, use a gentle, mild wash and pat brows dry with a soft towel. Keep the brow area lightly moist & hydrated 1-2x a day for the first 7-10 days.
Microblading:
Keep the treated area very clean & dry for the first 7-10 days. During this phase, blot a small amount of witch hazel on your brows to keep them clean. Use our recommended brow balm to keep brows healthy & hydrated. After 7-10 days, use a gentle, mild wash and pat brows dry with a soft towel.
Additional Notes:
Brows may weep a clear liquid for the first 24 hours which is normal. A few times over the first day, blot any residue dry with a lint-free, soft paper towel to prevent a thick crust from forming. Thick scabbing can result in more pigment loss. Follow all the instructions above on what to avoid.
You will see healed results in 4-8 weeks AFTER day of procedure. This is a multiple session process and may require a touch up once brows are healed.
Required Color Touch Up (6-8 Weeks later)
After the healing process(6-8 weeks) a second and third touch up session may be required to perfect the brows, as it is very difficult to predict how well the skin will retain the pigment.
Long Term Care
- RESULTS CANNOT BE GUARANTEED as everyone’s result will vary due to skin type, lifestyle and the initial healing process after care as well as the longterm care of your brow tattoo.
- Use a daily SPF 30 to protect your brows, sun exposure will cause faster fading and can alter the color of your tattoo.
- Do not use chemical exfoliants on the brows, this will case the brows to fade faster.
- Do not do laser your brow area (IPL etc), some lasers may change the color of the ink.
- Maintenance is required to maintain desired results. Schedule touch ups accordingly to maintain your brow tattoo.
